EMTEC, a leading supplier of consumer IT solutions, has today announced that 1 out of 5 USB keys sold in France is EMTEC branded, according to latest GFK monthly report. EMTEC's major markets are France, where EMTEC is the market leader, followed by Germany and Spain, where EMTEC also holds a strong market position with a market share close to 10%. EMTEC’s USB sales grow at an impressive rate, especially in Eastern Europe, Poland and Italy, with over 7 million units forcasted in 2007.
EMTEC's comprehensive Flash and USB portfolio offers a large assortment of models, all going from 1GB to 16GB, with entry models like C150 UFD, creative models like the C155 flashing screen UFD, and high end models like M400 U3 or S520 Ready Boost, to fit each user needs.
EMTEC's constant N°1 position in France has recently been confirmed, as the brand has been selected by the Île-de-France Region Council to supply over 220 000 1GB USB keys pre-loaded with 19 Open Source applications to equip students and teachers in October.
Preloaded applications include Open Office, Firefox 2, Thunderbird email client, VLC video player etc. Acting as a complete digital bag, the USB key will include additional educational resources, internet links and an additional 600MB free storage capacity to save and transport personal data.
The Île-de-France regional market represents the first step of a long-term project held by EMTEC since a year and based on Open Source technologies. Other new products will follow, such as a new line of USB Keys pre-loaded with the EM-DESK Open Source mobile office, or the capability to supply private companies or state organisms with a tailor-made, customized Open application platform.
Intuitive and easy to use, EM-DESK enables users to carry their data, personal applications and settings on their USB key and to connect to any PC as to their personal "on the stick" working place.
Applications are executed directly from the key, without the need for installing them on the PC or using the host computer hard disc and without leaving a trace, with full independance, confidentiality, maximum usage value and extended compatibility.
